Luciano Sandrone Barolo Le Vigne 2008Red/black color with no light edges. On the nose, layers of red and black fruits emerge with patience, especially plums and black cherries. The wine is deep and concentrated, with intense and focused oak, chocolate and cranberry, and notes of violets, coffee and licorice. In the mouth it is complex and layered, with still-closed tannins that are very ripe and full. The mid palate is purely defined and delineated, and the finish precise and long. This is a Le Vigne to age.
Luciano Sandrone Barolo Cannubi Boschis 2008Deep red-black color with an intense, soaring perfume of strawberry, red cherries, rose petals and violets. In the mouth, this is very concentrated and intense but possesses good balance and structure, all framed by layers of red and black fruits. Great mid-palate presence, with less of the licorice but more of the floral aspects that Nebbiolo reveals. The ripe tannins will require a bit of patience but it is hard to resist this wine now. Good balance and a precise balance of oak give this wine a long sweet finish.
Elio Grasso Barolo Ginestra Vigna Casa Maté 2009Harvest period and method: second 10 days of October, manual harvest. The vinification procedure for Barolo Gavarini Vigna Maté involves fermentation for 12-16 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with daily pumping over. After completing malolactic fermentation in stainless steel, the wine matures for two years in 25-hectolitre barrels of Slavonian oak. Bottling normally takes place in August. The wine then stays in the binning cellar for 8-10 months before release.

Luciano Sandrone Barolo Cannubi Boschis 2009Dark red color with hints of purple. Fat ripe black cherries on the nose, plush and forward with hints of vanilla, spices and clove. In the mouth, the fruit is forward and ripe, almost but not quite jammy, kept in harmony by the subtle acidity. It has good attack on the palate, and the mouthfeel is creamy, chocolately and soft with menthol notes. This wine shows the warm Cannubi Boschis terroir to great advantage. The tannins are very sweet and long, but will still require some patience to soften. Though it is more forward and ready than its sibling the Le Vigne Barolo, it still needs time. Finish is long and sweet with oak & spice notes over the black cherries and black fruits.

Luciano Sandrone Barolo Le Vigne 2010Showing bright black cherries, pomegranate, violets and licorice, this is a very harmonious and deceptively powerful wine. This bottling shows power and balance to high degree, and its toned, sleek muscularity emerges in the pure fruit, balance and focused acidity on the palate. Its smooth and integrated mouthfeel make the wine light on its feet for such a complex, tannic and concentrated bottling. Dark cherries, violets and "sottobosco" combine to give this wine the fruit foundation that will sustain the huge tannins through a long life. The finish is bright and smooth, with ripe and full tannins, and ends long and smooth with notes of espresso, spices and cherries.
Luciano Sandrone Barolo Le Vigne 2011Unlike its sibling the Barolo Cannubi Boschis, the 2011 Barolo Le Vigne is defined by its internal tightness, muscularity and structure, with an overlay of delicate Nebbiolo perfume. The nose shows black fruits and licorice, black pepper and earthy mineral notes, with cola nut and subtle oak notes. On the palate, this wine is both more tannic and more elegant than its brother - the terroirs from which this wine is made give powerful, ripe tannins to the final wine, and the fruit never seems jammy or overly concentrated. Fruit balance and acidity are excellent and bode well for long-term aging. Finish is long and tight with considerable tannins and minerality. Needs patience.

The palate is full-bodied, with raspberry and plum fruit, a significant mineral aspect and a balanced oak note that gives this wine its muscle and power. The chewy mid-palate gives this wine excellent flexibility at the table, and the typical acidity of Barbera shines through to give the wine a vibrant, bright and long finish

The warm growing season gave us a Barolo Cannubi Boschis of uncommon grace, ripeness and readiness on the palate - this wine has powerful, ripe fruit at center stage in the mouth, with mineral, oak and spice notes in supporting roles. The complexity of this wine comes from its harmony and balance - it is a compelling, toned Barolo, delicious now but with potential to age. The finish is long and sweet with fruit and oak notes.

Luciano Sandrone Barolo Aleste 2013This single-vineyard wine is typically dense and concentrated, but shows incredible harmony and balance. The medium-weight structure shows delightful and seductive notes of berries and cherries, with floral and mineral aspects. In great vintages, properly cellared examples will drink well for 20+ years. The finish is sweet and broad, with moderate, ripe tannins and long length.
Luciano Sandrone Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore 2015Valmaggiore is the product of Luciano's incredible passion for the Nebbiolo grape variety and the desire to show just how its expression can vary depending on the soil in which it is cultivated. Just 15 miles away from Barolo, in the Roero region, Nebbiolo produces a lighter structure and ripe, smooth tannins that are not unlike those of Pinot Noir. The wine drinks well from about age 6 to 12 but will easily last longer in the best vintages. This is not a "baby Barolo" or a second wine at all - it is a distinct interpretation of a completely different geographic winemaking zone. The wine shows delicious floral elements and red fruits, wrapped around a medium-weight structure with a long, delicious finish and modulated, ripe tannins.
Luciano Sandrone Barolo Le Vigne 2012Le Vigne Barolo interprets the ancient handed-down wisdom and tradition of Langhe and Barolo of assembling the Nebbiolo grapes from various vineyards. We interpret this historic practice by working only with indigenous yeasts and by keeping the grapes of each vineyard separated during the fermentation and wood ageing, rather than combining them during fermentation.
Luciano Sandrone Barolo Cannubi Boschis 2012The 2012 Barolo Cannubi Boschis shows great aromatic complexity, with raspberry, strawberry and underbrush notes in an open, generous nose. The palate shows more backwardness; complex, layered flavors of red fruits, eucalyptus, leather and mushroom with dry, delicate tannins that will need a few years to evolve. The finish has long red fruit character with dry tannins and hints of wood. The wine is already drinkable and generous but will benefit from a few years of patience. Drink 2020-2035.

Taste: The dry and intense flavor is persistent and finishes with fruit and jam notes. The acidity renders the wine even more drinkable.
M. Marengo Barolo Brunate 2010Colour: Beautiful ruby red tending to garnet. Nose: Intense, complex, delicate, very elegant and very powerful at the same time. Small red berries, balsamic notes of sage and mint that become gradually more evi- dent when the wine opens up in the glass. Floral and flint notes follow. Flavour: In the mouth the tannins are silky and well integrated together with a lovely balance. Food Pairing: Stewed beef, Piedmontese medium sea- soned cheese.
Stefano Farina Barolo 2011The manor owned by Stefano Farina in La Morra d'Alba lies on hills well exposed to the warm afternoon sunshine, the most suitable for grape ripening. This wine is aged for several years in oak casks of Slavonic origin and has a garnet red or ruby colour, with a violet aroma combined with notes of licorice and light spicy. Velvety, soft taste. The Barolo Stefano Farina has a noble tradition and is considered the "king of wines" amongst Italian wines. Food Pairing: Braised meats, cheese with blue-green marbling, red meats and game.

Bartolo Mascarello Barolo 2011Viticulture: Traditional, conventional. Rows are spaced at 2.5 meters and plants at 90-100 cms. Average age of vines is about 25 years, ranging from 60-70 years old in the San Lorenzo to newly replanted plots in Cannubi. We do not use chemical pesticides or fertilizers. Composted cow manure is used for fertilization and mechanical mowing is used to keep cover plants under control. Sulfur and copper are used during the season to combat oidium and peronospora. Vines are unirrigated (by DOCG laws).
Antonelli Montefalco Sagrantino 2010Tasting notes: intense ruby red in colour. To the nose rich and powerful, ethereal and very complex. Typically characterised by notes of fruit and aromatic herbs, featuring citrus, cherry, wild berry, mint and oregano. On the palate this wine is very structured, with firm and persistent tannins. A wine that is best expressed with a long bottle ageing. Accompanies: grilled and roast meats, stewed red meats, game and mature hard cheeses.
