Giacomo Conterno Barolo Cerretta 2011
|Region||Italy, Piedmont, Barolo|
New leather, blue flower, raspberry and Mediterranean herb aromas emerge on this full-bodied, concentrated wine. The structured palate doles out creamy raspberry, juicy black cherry marinated in spirits, cinnamon and pipe tobacco alongside velvety tannins. A licorice note wraps up the warm, lingering finish. It's delicious and already surprisingly accessible.
A taut, linear style, with a solid structure keeping the cherry, licorice, tobacco and stone flavors in a firm grip. Though austere now, this has intensity and personality, ending with a long aftertaste of fruit and mineral. Best from 2019 through 2035.
