Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2020: The 2018 Givry Clos Salomon 1er Cru Rouge has an attractive cranberry and strawberry scented bouquet, a little rustic perhaps but that only adds to its charm. The palate is well balanced with raspberry, cranberry and a hint of sour cherry that lends a bit of bite. Soft and supple this comes across as very approachable, though I admire its depth and freshness. Drinking window: 2021 - 2027. 88 points.
Burghound, Allan Meadows, Nov 2020: [a 6.9 ha monopole] A subtle but perceptible touch of volatile acidity is present on the softly oaky and ripe nose that features a mix of dark berries, violet and earth. There is very good richness and mid-palate concentration to the medium weight, suave and appealingly textured flavors that conclude in a lingering and balanced finish. The nose isn't technically perfect though the VA does not extend to the palate so it's not really a significant problem. Note that this could easily be enjoyed young. Outstanding. Drink: 2026+. 91 points.
