Domaine du Clos Salomon Montagny Cuvee "le Clou" 2018
|Region||France, Burgundy, Cote Chalonnaise|
|Brand||Domaine du Clos Salomon|
Burghound, Allan Meadows, Nov 2020: A fresh, bright and attractively cool nose features a mix of both white and yellow orchard fruit along with plenty of citrus influence that extends to the tension-filled middle weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the refreshing, dry and lingering finish. This is actually quite good and a wine that could be enjoyed young for its verve or held for a few years so that more depth can develop. Worth a look. Outstanding. Drink: 2023+. 90 points.
The Gardin-Perrotto family directs this 8.4 ha domaine, of which 6.9 ha of it is their famous monopole Clos Salomon. The domaine is currently managed by Ludovico du Gardin. Du Gardin briefly noted that 2018 gave us "fresher and more tension-filled reds though not much quantity...Yields were better in white and they too have very good freshness and energy."
